Wells Fargo Gives Generous Gifts of Time & Money to 2008 Campaign
On Monday, July 30th, Patrick Nygren, Vice President and Store Manager of Wells Fargo's Main Branch in Santa Barbara, presented United Way of Santa Barbara County (UWSBC) CEO Paul Didier with a check for $8,000.00. This includes a $2,500.00 sponsorship for the Day of Caring, the largest single-day volunteer event in the tri-county area, and a $5,500.00 sponsorship for this year's Red Feather Ball, which benefits UWSBC's Fun in the Sun, a summer enrichment program for poverty level or at-risk children. The $8,000 gift relfects the company's long-standing commitment to the community in Santa Barbara County.
In addition to supporting these areas financially, Wells Fargo employees have continued to take part in volunteer work this year. In July, the company sent a team of volunteers to "Lunch Bunch," the volunteer portion of Fun in the Sun. The employees spent three of their lunch breaks at Harding School and acted as mentors for program participants. The group brought the kids cookies and popsicles and gave the children some much-needed attention. The company also plans to have a team of volunteers for this year's Day of Caring, to be held on September 15th.
Thank you to John Swindell ("Lunch Bunch" Coordinator), Eric Kronvall, and Patrick Nygren for making these gifts of time and money possible.
Pacesetter Luncheon Helps Kick-off 2007/08 Community Campaign
United Way of Santa Barbara County kicked-off the 2007/08 Community Campaign with an educational Pacesetter Luncheon, which was held at Rodney's Steakhouse in Fess Parker's DoubleTree Resort. The facility was generously donated by the resort. Lynda Nahra, President & CEO of Community West Bank, and United Way's Community Campaign Deputy Chair was the mistress of ceremonies. To honor her work the restaurant was decorated in a bank theme, with fun decorations and "Nahra" bucks spread throughout the tables.
Brian Sarvis, Santa Barbara City School Districts Superintendent and United Way's Community Campaign Chair spoke about some of the current success United Way has gained through volunteer hours and dollars to continue helping the community though the Power of Partnership™. Many organizations shared fun ideas for success. Participating businesses were ABC Clio, Bank of America, City of Goleta, Community West Bank, Cox Communications, Damitz, Brooks, Nightingale, Turner and Morrisset, Exxon Mobil, Fess Parker's DoubleTree Resort, Four Seasons Biltmore, L-3 Communications MariPro Inc., Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, and Visiting Nurse & Hospice Care.
The Pacesetter Campaign, which is composed of 25 organizations, has a goal of raising $325,000 before September 15, 2007, United Way's annual Day of Caring, the largest single day volunteer program in the tri-counties. |
| CallWave's Fiesta: Food, Fun & Fundraising
In the midst of the fiesta on August 1st and 2nd, CallWave had their own festivities planned. They hosted lunches for their staff at their Santa Barbara and Carpinteria locations, serving America's finest Italian cuisine, as well as raffles and presentations at each site. Based on their participation and enthusiasm it was clear that they were eager to help the community by pledging and volunteering.
CallWave's Carpinteria coordinator, Jeff Felix did a great job getting his colleagues out to volunteer at Canalino School for Lunch Bunch. They surprised the kids by bringing popsicles, which was a huge hit. Campaign Managers Julie Bennett and Rachel Miner will be reporting the results soon and we are sure it is one call that won't get dropped. Thank you CallWave for your generous support!
