County of Santa Barbara Employees Run the Year's Largest Campaign
Once again this year, the County of Santa Barbara has run the community's largest employee charitable giving campaign. The campaign has finished with a total of more than $263,000 in donations and more than 950 donors. County employees also contributed hundreds of volunteer hours during United Way's Day of Caring and Lunch Bunch, the volunteer component of United Way's Fun in the Sun children's program.
Three "Fun Days" were held to give County employees the chance to have lunch with employees from all departments and build enthusiasm for the campaign. A total of 270 County employees turned out for the Fun Days, which raised more than $2,500.
Campaign Chair Carrie Topliffe and Co-Chairs Bob Nisbet and Sheriff Bill Brown spent many hours throughout the year working with United Way staff to plan for the campaign and ensure it was a big success. United Way thanks the Chairs along with all of the Department Representatives who helped with this year's campaign and all of the employees who contributed financially and by volunteering. |
GE Fanuc Achieves Success with First Local Campaign
GE Fanuc ran a local United Way campaign for the first time this year. Formerly Condor Engineering, GE Fanuc is a division of General Electric and has 37 employees in Goleta. The campaign was a huge success, raising more than $7,000 for United Way of Santa Barbara County. Employees Sarah Terry and Joshua Valenzuela also took part in this year's Day of Caring, volunteering their time on a Saturday to help with projects such as painting, gardening, beach clean up, construction and even administrative tasks.
Employee campaign manager Roberta Issaris reached out to local businesses and received donated goods to be used as raffle prizes for those who pledged. Roberta also set up an all-staff presentation to allow employees to hear about how United Way is initiating and supporting local programs and partnerships.
United Way thanks Roberta, General Manager Ben Daniel, Sarah Terry, Joshua Valenzuela and the rest of the employees at GE Fanuc for their tremendous enthusiasm and support for our community!
