Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care's Kathie Organ and Eileen Bunning with United Way's Steve Ortiz

Over 150 supporters of United Way of Santa Barbara County (UWSBC) gathered for the annual Holiday Bash on Wednesday, December 6th, to celebrate the successes of the 2006-2007 campaign and enjoy an evening of holiday cheer with other community leaders. The festive evening was held at Fess Parker's DoubleTree Resort, and the program began with an engaging performance by The Killer S#arps, a group of high school age jazz performers in retro zoot suits.

Bank of America Senior Vice President David Prichard was recognized for his phenomenal presence as a Leadership Circle supporter of UWSBC.  AGIA Insurance was honored with the Outstanding Campaign Committee Award and L-3 Communications MariPro Inc. was recognized for having an Outstanding Employee CampaignKathie Organ was acknowledged for her exemplary leadership of Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara’s employee campaign.  Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care of Santa Barbara was honored once again for its Outstanding Non-Profit Campaign. Enterprise Rent-A-Car Wraps Up Campaign With Casino Night

Enterprise Rent-A-Car employee's gaming at their casino night

Enterprise Rent-A-Car has just wrapped up the company-wide 2006 United Way Campaign.  The company runs a strong local campaign every year right here in Santa Barbara County.  With five locations in greater Santa Barbara the company has many employees who choose to support this community by pledging money and volunteering time.

This year Enterprise employees had a United Way presentation at an all staff meeting.  All employees from the five area branches attended the meeting and learned about United Way.  The staff was very young and many of the company’s workers are from other parts of the country.  The group was very anxious to learn about the different area programs supported by United Way of Santa Barbara County.  Area Manager Sarah Shirazi encouraged the employees to pledge along with Joel Dinan, United Way's representative.

Enterprise also put on a Casino Night for all employees from San Luis Obispo County to Ventura County.  Top managers auctioned off wine tasting, a March Madness party where the winner gets to watch the basketball tournament with the CEO at his home, and a number of other fun items.  This event provided Enterprise employees with a good way to meet one another, have some fun, and support a good cause.

At the end of the Casino Night, the company pledged $15,000 for this year’s campaign as a corporate match in addition to the $30,000 the employees raised that night.  Including the corporate gift, the company raised a total of $130,000 between Ventura and San Luis Obispo.  This gift reflects their commitment in making their communities stronger.

DuPont Displays 2006 Campaign Comes to a Close

DuPont Displays has just wrapped up their 2006 United Way employee campaign.  The company finished with a total of $16,258, up from $15,390 in 2005.  The campaign was a success because of corporate support from CEO David Flattery and the wonderful employee campaign committee led by Process Engineer Tami Faircloth.

The company provided ten raffle items, entering anybody who returned a pledge form into the raffle.  The company also made a $2,000 corporate gift  and provided an ice cream social for all employees.  The ice cream social was a result of the employees reaching the predetermined goal for this year’s campaign.

The campaign was kicked off with a presentation by a United Way speaker.  During the two week timeline for the campaign, the company also had two gatherings with snacks provided.  These gatherings offered the employees a chance to return pledge forms and ask any questions they may have.

DuPont Displays has been running a successful United Way campaign for several years.  The commitment this company and DuPont employees have shown over the years really proves that this group is focused on making an impact in the community.  It is important to note that many DuPont employees volunteer to help in the community in addition to supporting community programs financially.
