This past June, United Way of Santa
Barbara County held it's Annual
Alexis de Tocqueville and Leadership Circle Thank You Reception at the
President's Home at Westmont College. President Stan Gaede and his wife
Judy graciously welcomed over one hundred guests to celebrate the
fundraising accomplishments of the 2003 - 2004 Community Campaign.
During the 2003 - 2004 campaign season, members of the Alexis de
Tocqueville Society and Leadership Circle contributed over $1,000,000 of
the $2,935,000 raised!
Charles and Gail Lucky received the 2003 Alexis de Tocqueville Award for
Outstanding Philanthropy. Charles and Gail are long-time United Way
supporters whose unwavering support and commitment as volunteers and
donors truly makes a difference.
Tom Brashears, whose commitment with United Way dates back to the days
of the Community Chest, was honored as the Outstanding Volunteer of
Time, Talent & Treasure in Leadership Giving. With over 50 years of
service, Tom has proven himself invaluable to United Way of Santa
Barbara County as a volunteer and generous Leadership Circle member. Members
of the Alexis de Tocqueville Society contribute a minimum of $10,000.
Members of Leadership Circle contribute a minimum of $1,000.
(As of 3/08, Leadership levels begin at
$1,200, due to increasing costs for maintaining &
growing our partnerships. This is the first level increase in 20
years.)
